Therapeutic Modalities and Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT

This therapeutic modality allows our therapists and clients to form a  trusted relationship, in order to address and dissect issues causing  distress. CBT uses a practical approach in which the therapist helps the  client understand the relationship between beliefs, feelings, and  thoughts, and the effect these have on behavior patterns and actions.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy, EMDR

EMDR is an information processing therapy, that uses an eight phase  approach to address the experiential contributors of a wide range of   pathologies. Our therapists assist clients as they attend  to the past  experiences that have set the groundwork for  the current situations  that often trigger dysfunctional emotions, beliefs, and sensations, and  the positive experience needed to enhance future adaptive behaviors and  mental health.

Emotionally Focused Therapy or Attachment Theory

Our therapists are well versed in attachment theory. Attachment theory  is focused on the relationships and bonds between people, including  those between a parent and child, and between our friends and partners.  Therapists assist clients in understanding how some of their earliest  experiences and bonds, have a tremendous impact that continues  throughout life, and the understanding that this is “normal,” as it  assisted them when young, to improve their chance of survival, but there  may be a need for changes in behavior as it relates to relationships  today.

Resourcing and Self-Regulation

When we cultivate a felt sense of compassion for ourselves, we are  resourced to brave the complexities of the mood. Our resourcing  practices are designed to prepare for EMDR Therapy, manage anxiety and   depression, alleviate somatic concerns, and to reduce other  trauma-related symptoms. The fundamental belief of our teachings and  techniques is that, “We are already the wholeness that we seek.” Clients  are supported by their psychiatric nurse practitioner, therapist, life  coach, or behavioral health technician, to return to the sense that all  we desire is already within us. Evidence-based techniques and new found  coping skills are used to create personal intention. Our resourcing  techniques include: psychiatric services both traditional and  holistic, EMDR protocols designed for safety and stabilization, CBT  tools, mindfulness exercises, somatic experiences, pain reduction and  management exercises, breathing techniques, easy meditations, gentle  movements with body awareness, and Yoga Nidra.
